Before God and before man…

Prayer: Holy Spirit guide me in your word today, teach me your will in Jesus name. Amen

Genesis 6 continued

In continuation of Genesis 6: 15-22 it’s made clear, the specific instructions God gave to Noah. It’s great to know that God can give me specific instructions and I don’t have to be vague about what I think He can tell me…what we believe He can do is what we get for its given “According to your faith”.

Matthew 9:29   Then He touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith [your trust and confidence in My power and My ability to heal] it will be done to you.” (Amplified translation)

Genesis 7:1

I have seen that you are righteous before Me in this generation.

In Genesis 7 we see more of God’s character. We see that God weighs actions and intents of the heart at the same time. In life we often claim people we know as good… as humble…as innocent. But we only see the outside actions, outside appearance and thus we conclude our opinion. But God doesn’t look at just the outside, what’s more is that he doesn’t look at what we try to be before other people; He looks at who we are before Him. To be righteous is to be in right standing with. But just being right standing before people won’t last, nor will it bear that legacy kind of fruit. To be in right standing before God, however,  yields to us more grace to be transformed within, and leaves incorruptible inheritance for our posterity.

That’s why a criminal on the cross could be redeemed just by saying “Lord remember me in Heaven” whilst religious pious people were exclaimed to be a “brood of vipers”,             by Jesus Himself.                                                                                                                                               Luke 23:42  Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your Kingdom.”                         Matthew 23:33  “…You brood of vipers!”

This is in no way to say being dedicated to a ‘religion’ automatically means that you are in wrong standing before God, neither is it to say that being a criminal gains you any special favor with God. Never judge a book, no matter how good or bad it looks, by it’s cover. God looks at both our actions and our hearts according to His reasoning and not ours, for His ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts. And it’s in this, it’s in the heart, that determines the ability for one to be redeemed.

Isaiah 55:8-11   For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord“For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts higher than your thoughts.

Who are we daily trying to please. Who is our God daily, because we all have one. But we cannot serve God and mammon. And God won’t “strive with man” though He is ever calling out.

Matthew 6:24   No man can serve two masters: for either he. will hate the one, and love the other; or else. he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.       Genesis 6:3  And the Lord said, “My Spirit shall not strive with man forever

So for me, I chose to consciously ‘lend my members’ and turn the intents of my heart to be right, not before man, but before God, to honor Him.

To let go of what others may think of me, and to only live by what God thinks of me and expects of me is really a challenge to kill self and outside approval. Wow, Life can’t get more adventurous than that. Haha.
