Come Wind or Rain…

4/Jan/17

Prayer: Holy Spirit, I don’t know how this can relate to me to be honest, but you are telling me to read this today, show me the spirit behind your word, give me insight and make me understand, in Jesus name. Amen

Genesis chapter 5:1- the end

Note:

From Adam to Noah

The first thing I notice is that as Noah’s parents named him, they spoke words over his purpose which was; “This one will comfort us concerning our work and the toil of our hands” Verse :29. I found out his name, Noah in Hebrew means ‘rest’ or ‘comfort’. Looking at who he became in his life, it’s really no surprise. I always think, like wow, names aren’t really given that much importance these days but it’s so fundamental, it’s scary real. The first thing spoken over a child’s life I think must be just as important, it’s setting their world in motion with our words.

Genesis 5:1-2    This is the book of the genealogy of Adam. In the day that God created man, He made him in the likeness of God. He created them male and female, and blessed them and called them mankind in the day that they were created.

God made man (referring to male and female) in His image, and God spoke the world into existence, so imagine what a person is speaking into existence in the life of a new born baby, a child, a friend, a relative, a parent… oneself.

Lord why did Enoch not die?….. verse 10

Enoch was the only one out of 11 generations that was said to have walked with God. Not even Adam prevailed over death, but Enoch, generations later. Enoch means ‘Dedicated’ in Hebrew. No surprise about his life then. The Bible doesn’t say  ‘Enoch walked closely with God’, or even that ‘Enoch walked with God more than anyone else’. Just that ‘Enoch walked with God’. If that’s what made him different to the rest, then it’s fair to think that the others didn’t walk with God at all. Not necessarily that they were all rebels against God, but perhaps some out of a lack of hope in being restored to God again, they accepted their new state of being, being on the outside. They didn’t just walk away from the garden of Eden, but accepted to walk away from God out of shame, out of belief of defeat or even out of anger that the earth was cursed because of their sin. Sin brought death and perhaps they accepted that death.

Wow, how many times do we accept the death of a great friendship or relationship and just walk away. We hang our heads in shame, we harden our hearts and say well, that bridge is burnt for good. And we forget that we were made in God’s image to create, and we can speak into existence those things which are not, as though they are, and they will surely come into being, all because we were made in His image and that can never be undone. wow Holy Spirit preach to my soul! Ezekiel 37 and Romans 4:17

look at the Canaanite woman. Matthew 15:21-28.  She didn’t belong to the lineage of Abraham who’s descendants were given the promise of Blessing because of his relationship with God. Yet this very women, knowing she didn’t belong to God through Abraham, being a creation of God but not his child, she refused to accept deadness with God, she refused to die, she said; “… even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their Master’s table”.  She acknowledged and honored God as God! Despite the fact that she was born apart form God which was not even her fault! She wasn’t bitter and blaming towards God who allowed her to be born into such state. My mind is overflowing with so many example of people who didn’t have redemption through Christ and they still made it with God. So many people say if God exists then why this suffering, not realizing that if we could only walk with a higher mentality, and say, ‘ oh even though this card was handed to me in this life, and I may not know God, I may not be His child but only His creation, there is no way I will accept to depart because of my fallen nature, there is no way I will depart from life, God my creator, You Will be my Father and protector, If You are who You say You are, then I will not miss out!’

That’s what all these people were saying, Lord I don’t belong, but I’m not  leaving you. Example of resolution and faith is in the book of Ruth 1:16-17 (Amplified translation)                                       16 But Ruth said, “Do not urge me to leave you or to turn back from following you; for where you go, I will go                                                                                                                                                            And God is saying all through scripture, If you would only return to me, I will return to you and heal your land!!!

Joel 2: 13 And rend your heart and not your garments ” Now return to the LORD your God, For He is gracious and compassionate, Slow to anger, abounding in lovingkindness And relenting of evil.

Jeremiah 24:7 ‘I will give them a heart to know Me, for I am the LORD; and they will be My people, and I will be their God, for they will return to Me with their whole heart.

And so would it not seem, that only Enoch out of so many generations had enough courage for lack of a better word, lol, to say to himself, although the land is cursed, and life is so hard just to make ends meet, and although I am also under the brunt of the weight of responsibilities in this life, I will not accept deadness with God. I will still love and honor God as, not just a priority but The priority of my life.

Habakkuk 3:17-18  (New King James translation)                                                                                        Though the fig tree may not blossom,
Nor fruit be on the vines;
Though the labor of the olive may fail,
And the fields yield no food;
Though the flock may be cut off from the fold,
And there be no herd in the stalls—
18 Yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
I will joy in the God of my salvation.

That’s love. That’s faith.

And I think as people we don’t realize how our love for God genuinely, affects God. Though we are made by God, because of how He made us, we are also beings in our own right.          ” …And have dominion” (Genesis 1:28), and so when we choose to love and honor God although we physically don’t see Him (Most of us anyway lol), It’s a big thing to God when we do. And so I believe that when man had fallen, and Enoch only 7 generations after that big fall, knowing how everything happened and living under the difficulty of it all; when Enoch chose to walk, simply walk with God, God felt so honored and cherishes by Enoch that God didn’t even wait for Enoch to die, He just took him up with Him. That’s sweet fellowship

God loves us so much and wants communion with us genuinely, but sometimes we are so fixed on trying to fix our fallen state of life, or running away from Him because we blame God for the consequences of sin, or we feel too ashamed to even walk with Him that we miss His constant knocking. And trust me this is for believers as much as it is for unbelievers. How many of us really walk, not show duty to, but just commune with and love to honor God, despite the falling stars, and the flooding sea and the raging fires in the world; in our lives. If we would just stop, think and turn, we would see Him and He would be able to take the weight off our shoulders

Matthew 11:28   Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Today we have the privilege of knowing the stories of those who came before us through God’s word. we have the privilege of seeing before hand what will and won’t work. And most of all we have the privilege of Christ who gives us back our right to fellowship directly with God and also be assisted with the Holy Spirit any time!

Walking with God shouldn’t be conditional and it shouldn’t be a last thought

Matthew 6:30-33 (Amplified translation)                                                                                                            30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

What’s God saying to me today:

All the hurt I’ve been feeling, all the worries, can be cheaply taken care of if I would stay in fellowship with Him,and it’s so true, I’ve seen it today already. I also don’t have to accept any type of defeat inwardly or outwardly, persistence is key. And most challenging of all is to be and stay resolute, that my relationship with Christ, with God, with the Holy spirit is not dependent on what goes right or what goes wrong. Staying resolute in communing with Jesus is maturing in faith. Staying resolute come wind or rain, that’s true love.

Let’s start with speaking into existence our beautiful fellowship with God Almighty everyday, today.

He is home, and peace is where home is

(And to imagine I could have missed all of this by shooting off without Jesus, oh man! lol)
